My favorite techno/trance song is called "Sunrise". I don't know who made it, but I always used to listen to it on YouTube.

Sayu Crying Icon That is, until YouTube DELETED IT!

And now I can't find it, again, because I don't know who the artist is. Would some good Deviants help me find it?

Bullet; Blue  Title: "Sunrise" (or at least that's what the video uploader called it)
Bullet; Purple  Length: between 5 and 7 minutes
Bullet; Blue  Description: the charm of this song is in the very gradual beginning, the slow rhythm, and the beat that sounds just like a deep heartbeat. At the end of the song, it just trails off with the heartbeat rhythm getting slower and slower until there is silence.

Please, suggest any songs that meet these criteria. I will be eternally grateful if you find the song!

One of the reasons why I like Doctor Who is because it makes history come to life. Seemingly ancient people are portrayed in living, breathing color and, though there is a lot of fiction involved, it still makes history more interesting. Doctor Who challenges me to examine famous events more closely, analyzing them, and thinking through the "what if's". There is more to this world's history than the dates and facts recorded in little school textbooks.

One of my favorite episodes of Doctor Who is the one with Vincent Van Gogh. I did a little Internet research on Van Gogh and he is portrayed pretty accurately in the episode. As an artist, I can relate to his character in so many ways---the constant, never ending effort to improve one's skills and the discouragement from the lack of appreciation/approval from viewers.

According to one of the articles that I found online, Van Gogh struggled with self-confidence, his identity, and direction during his growing up. Early on, he thought that his calling was to be a pastor, like his father. It took him several years to realize that he was meant to be an artist. After two romances that didn't end well and working several different jobs, he decided to pursue and study art in Paris. There, he discovered impressionism and it had a lasting influence on his style.

Van Gogh's art career in Paris was relatively short, with his finest work spanning just under three years. Sadly, he never gained popularity for his art while he was alive. It would be many, many years before his paintings became famous.

Okay, so his story doesn't have the happiest ending. Even still, I find it tragically romantic; as well as a good story to learn from. Being an artist is hard. I create because it brings me joy and I want to share that joy with others. But others don't always think that my artwork is "good" and naturally, that is discouraging. It's a battle, sometimes to remember that everyone has different tastes and not everyone is going to enjoy my art as much as I do. Some people will want to hang my art on their wall and others will not even give it a second glance.

All this to say that, if creating art brings you joy, keep working and don't be discouraged by other peoples' opinions. You have your own unique style and talent and it should be embraced. Don't gauge your skill by the recognition you gain.
